Meet The Team
Jessica Jamieson
A qualified Financial Adviser in the industry, and winner of the Rising Star Award at the Financial Advice New Zealand 2022 Awards, held in Christchurch.
This award recognises the brightest new talent in advice amongst Financial Advice New Zealand members in their chosen field of advice by demonstrating that they provide high quality financial advice, deliver an exceptional client experience and show commitment to their professional and personal development.
Dissatisfied with the financial services industry - where it seems commissions took precedent over wellbeing and sales masqueraded as advice, Jessica founded Money Maverick.
The goal of Money Maverick is to do things different to the Financial Services Sector - putting Kiwi's outcomes and interests above product selling.
Jessica has successfully delivered financial wellbeing programs for multiple organisations in New Zealand, including Villa Maria, RaboBank, Oranga Tamariki and NZPost.
Jessica was the lead on the Norske Skog redundancy program covering over 110 employees.
Scott Innes
A Risk Adviser with Mortgage Bliss in Whakatāne, Scott is committed to engaging locally with his clients, helping them navigate the complex world of insurance.
As he got more embedded locally, Scott sought opportunities to better contribute to the community.
When the opportunity arose to become part of the Money Maverick team - separating all products and advice to support financial wellbeing holistically, Scott jumped at the opportunity. As part of the Money Maverick ethos, no adviser EVER sells products or takes commissions or other incentives.
Scott is very passionate about personal finance including wealth building, budgeting and consumer behaviour. He would love the opportunity to meet with you to get financial systems in place that work, to help you meet your goals, or just have a chat about the financial world.

The Story
Money Maverick is the evolution of ImPower.
In 2016, ImPower was established to create a financial advisory business that focused on the belief that every New Zealander should be empowered when it comes to their financial situation. We felt so strongly about it that it inspired our ‘ImPower’ name.
We took this as an opportunity to rethink our approach to financial advice and the way advisers traditionally get paid for what they do. To us, it came down to the concepts of true independence and a complete lack of bias. In order to achieve this, we had to avoid all conflicts of interest. We felt the only way to achieve this was to remove any specific product advice from our process and receive nothing other than the fees paid directly to us by our clients. We wanted our stance to highlight the value of receiving good advice as well as always putting our client’s best interest front and centre.
Next came our emphasis on financial wellbeing – because all of us function better when we are well. Financial wellbeing is one of the key building blocks of a happy and fulfilling life so is where we can make a major and positive impact. This is also where we have set ourselves apart by moving away from a financial adviser ‘title’ to one that focuses on what we’re all about – financial wellbeing.
There aren’t many like us and we feel very privileged when clients value our proposition and decide to engage with us. We believe that there is huge opportunity not only for clients to utilise our services, but also for employers who believe that financial wellbeing is part of their duty of care to their employees.
Our vision is to be recognised as a leader in the area of financial wellbeing. But we must never lose sight of our fundamental principles.
